I love blogging. It’s such an amazing hobby, job, passion, and community, and I really think everyone should start a blog. But starting a blog can be a really daunting task. Knowing where to start is impossible without doing a little research, but as soon as you type ‘start a blog’ into Google, you’re faced with a million different results. It seems that everyone and their mother have written posts about who to start a blog (even if they didn’t really know how in the first place). Sifting through all that information can be tough, so I’ve brought together ten of my favourite posts on how to start a blog here, so you can find everything you need to know in one place. Some are very broad and cover everything from hosting to initial setup, and some are more narrow, like the importance of choosing a great blog name. Read through these posts, and once you do you’ll know everything you need to know about starting a blog!

Choosing a Blogging Platform by The Blogging Brew
I’ve read some great posts on one blogging platform vs. another, but it only ever seems to be a comparison between two. This post by Jessica covers all of the major blogging platforms like WordPress.com, WordPress.org, Blogger, Weebly, and Squarespace, and compares them to one another so you can make the choice that’s right for you. It’s great to read a post that’s not biased (though Jessica uses WordPress.org) so you can get a real idea of the different platforms and comparisons.

This post by Amanda is a great exploration of all the things you need to consider when choosing a theme, from usability to design. Though it’s written with WordPress in mind I think it really applies to all platforms, and choosing the theme that is best for you.
